Two of the biggest names in hardcore are heading to
Detroit as Madball and Terror head out on a quick eleven day tour
that hits the Hayloft Liquor Stand on Wednesday, June 20th.
Coming out of the New York City hardcore scene in 1988 and consistently on the road ever since, Madball has been one of the longest and most enduring names in the genre. Born as a side project of the legendary hardcore Agnostic Front and lead by Freddy Cricien, Madball is out promoting their 2005 release Legacy, which saw the band playing countless gigs, and even the 2005 Sounds of the Underground tour. Tracks such as “Heaven and Hell” and “The Crown” are pure NYC hardcore, and templates for such bands as Hatebreed and others to learn and grow from. Madball is gearing up to release their sixth record Infiltrate The System, due out in late August on Ferret Records. Expect many new songs from the upcoming record, as well as trips down hardcore memory lane. Representing the West Coast hardcore scene is Terror. After a intense show at the Magic Stick in January (and an interview with yours truly ), the Los Angeles based Terror is back for a round of dates with Madball. Fresh off a tour with hardcore titans Hatebreed, Terror is out supporting their Always the Hard Way release, and is continuing to tour incessantly behind the record. Lead singer Scott Vogel pummels the listener and gets everyone to the pit on tracks such as “Last of the Diehards” and “Test My Convictions.” For first-timers to the scene, don’t except shoe gazing and mopey mid-tempo ballads. If you’ve ever seen a Terror or Madball show; it is true to the hardcore spirit and not some homogenized version you may see on a big festival tour. There’s plenty of stage diving and circle pits all around. This is the show your parents warned you about and advised you not to go to. So, where do I sign up for the pit? Madball and Terror will be hitting the Hayloft Liquor Stand in Mt. Clemens on Wednesday, June 20th. Tickets are still available. |
