Are you feeling a little frisky
and wish to explore your exhibitionist side a little? Well, if you’ve
ever had the desire to view certain parts of your body as a work of art,
Detroit
Body Casting can help you realize your wish. The company is getting their
name putting on parties in a tasteful and tactful manner that is starting to
gain notoriety in many avenues.
Detroit Body Casting is the brainchild of Scott Morketter, who has been putting on shows since 2005, and during our conversation, Morketter shared the vision and the future of his company during the interview. Since the inception of Body Casting, Morketter has set out to make stoneware casts of different types of bodies. Those types of bodies can range anywhere from pregnant women, to adult entertainers to professional body builders. Morketter does not discriminate in the type of casts that he does, “We are looking at possible casts of male bodybuilders at this time” says Scott, extending an invitation beyond the bread and butter of female volunteers. The vast majority of nearly 100 casts were done at parties and in private. So far have all have been female. Women have just been more willing, according to Morketter. “If needed, I will be more than willing to sit down with the female’s significant other, and discuss the procedure, if I see that they are slightly uncomfortable with the situation” says Morketter as a cautionary statement to the men or women that might get uneasy of the casting. During a casting, the selection for the volunteers for casting is pretty easy, with women usually volunteering readily. The group usually discusses the process with the volunteers before the casting party starts. Applying and fitting the mesh on the body usually takes in the neighborhood of 30 to 45 minutes. Morketter works with a partner in the operation, in which the partner holds a Masters in Arts, and they work together on the various casts during parties. The company also handles private casts, in which the finished product usually will run around $300. Detroit Body Casting had the chance to show off their skills in February at a club, which served as an afterparty for the erotic art show The Dirty Show. Detroit Body Casting was able to enter the art show, based off various casts the company sent to the organizers. One of the body casts made the cut for the show, progressing and legitimatizing the company in the eyes of people in the industry. DBC has been recently approached by a well-know organization for cancer awareness about a possible body casting. The company, according to Morketter, are aiming to plan another event in the near future, but nothing is set in stone as of yet. They are looking to plan an event once a month, and will enlist MySpace in order to have the promotion the company is seeking for their next event. But for long term aspirations, Detroit Body Casting sets out their dream situation. “We would love to get someone like Pam Anderson involved to create a cast and mass produce it” says Morketter. Mass production may be some time off, but they are always looking for more willing subjects for their next cast. |
