Don't forget to go to The Oscars(TM) website to see who won, if you didn't stay up for the whole thing. And if you didn't see some of the films that were nominated, there are some real gems in there. IMDB has a really great summary of the nominees. Also, you can check out video from the show here.

Highlights for me? The Departed walked away with 4 well deserved wins, including Picture, Director, Writing and Editing. Scorsese was presented with his "Best Director" by none other than George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Francis Ford Coppola. Pretty amazing, and they did it with wonderful style and grace. Scorsese's acceptance speech was heartwarming as well and it was great to see this oft nominated movie legend finally win after six directing nominations and two screenplay nominations.

Elen DeGeneres pulled off the hosting spot with her characteristic charm. Funny highlights included her vacuuming just in front of the front row, and Penelope Cruz having to move her dress so it didn't get caught in the vacuum, Ellen handing a "screenplay" to Scorsese, and getting a "picture for MySpace with Clint Eastwood, taken by none other than Spielberg himself.

Best leading actor was won by Forrest Whittaker for his role as controversial Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. As usual, his humility and sincerity won over the room.

Some great movie quotes were used throughout the show- definitely some for the memory bank.

DiCaprio and Al Gore announced that this year the awards have Gone Green.

I've also decided that Nicholson looks MUCH BETTER without the haircut

It's easy to forget sometimes that our country's royalty (actors and musicians) age just like everyone else. He's still Jack though.
