![]() Offshore is a story about one office’s experience with having their jobs outsourced to India. For the full original review, click here. On February 1, 2007, the film was screened for a company that helps establish these ventures. The company, Econ Global Services, helps business set up call centers in India. The film was very well received. There was a question and answer session after the film and many audience members expressed how much they could relate to the events in the film. Many found the film to be entertaining but also realistic. I spoke with the film’s writer/director, Diane Cheklich, regarding the screening. She is glad that she had another opportunity the show the film again. The film is still seeking a vehicle for distribution, so these opportunities are currently limited. She is also glad many people found the film to be amusing but also relatable. She says she creates films mostly for entertainment, but when they also result in discussions or creating new perspectives, that is an added bonus. I also spoke with Victor Pytko. Victor was an extra in Offshore and employee of Econ Global Services. He also expressed the fact that many people found the film to be very relatable but highly entertaining. Offshore will be screened in India next month. There will be a press screening in Bangalore and a cast and crew screening in Bombay. If you can’t make it to India but would like to see the film, you can catch it at The East Lansing Film Festival taking place March 21-29, 2007. I highly recommend that you do. |
