What? You get a second Art Hates You column this week. It must be a good week. But this article won’t get as long as the usual articles. I am putting someone on blast this week in the sports world, because I am almost sickened Pistons General Manager Joe Dumars brought this man to wear the red, white, and blue of the Pistons. And just whom am I talking about? Chris Webber.

You know, the dolt that blew Michigan’s chance in the 1992 Final Four game against North Carolina when called a timeout when Michigan didn’t have any time outs. He’s the same dolt who took $200,000 from Michigan booster Ed Martin, and didn’t come clean. And he’s the same dolt who lied to a Federal grand jury about taking that money. But most of all, he became the program killer of the Michigan basketball program.

Webber’s greed and pride caused Michigan basketball to be put on probation for four years and have numerous Big Ten titles and final four appearances stripped from school history. While the program suffered through weak recruiting classes, Webber became a star in the NBA and made millions of dollars.

So, now we come to 2007. Michigan’s basketball program has never fully recovered from Webber; but Webber’s career is in a bit of a downturn and the poor baby needs a new home. The usually smart Joe Dumars has decided that the Pistons could help Webber out by giving him a role with the team. I begged and pleaded for Joe Dumars to reconsider his decision to add Chris Webber to this team. For all of the Michigan basketball diehards (because that’s pretty much what’s left now) who suffered because of Webber. We have suffered because Michigan State’s program is so above and beyond Michigan’s (no matter if this is a rebuilding year for MSU or not), and haven’t seen the NCAA tournament since 1998.

If you’ve seen the Pistons play Webber in the past, you know damn well that Webber is booed worse than Jason Kidd or Kobe Bryant has ever been. He holds little to no respect in local’s minds, because what he did.

Webber was recently bought out in Philadelphia after a failed stint. He had $38 million for two more years in Philly, in which Webber reportedly received most of that money. That’s how crappy he’s become; the worst team in the league paid him off and sent him packing.

Please Joe, please come to your senses. Chris Webber needs to take his big payday from the Sixers and go retire. He is a tarnished player and will tarnish the Pistons along with him. The team needs help, but not the help of a coward, liar and ego-maniac.

But now that Webber is back in Detroit, just remember this, even if the Pistons win the NBA crown this year:

Never forget, never forgive what he did to the fans and what he’s done to Michigan basketball.
