Hailing from Bellmore, New York, Permanent Me is making a move in the modern rock world and starting to get a healthy amount of buzz - getting on high profile tours for the first half of 2007.

After the release of their Dear Virginia EP early last year, the band is about to release their first full-length record, After the Room Clears on January 23rd. With the sound of their debut record, the band’s power-pop flare should help them score some radio play and ascend from opener to headliner.

On the 12-track debut, the band brings forth a very emo-friendly sound, but seems to be more influenced by bands like Jimmy Eat World and to a degree, Taking Back Sunday. The songs bounce back and forth between the guitar charge of “Allison,” to the emo-power ballad sound of “4 A.M.” The band seems more in the vein of bands like New Found Glory and Weezer, than other emo counterparts, with songs like “By The Time” and “Later On.” The beginning of the track “Blackjaw” starts out a lot like the 90s hit “Bump” (by the Presidents of the United States), before thankfully moving into different territory.

Lead singer Brian Kapler provides a pleasant melody that doesn’t grate on the listener, and compliments the music well. Meanwhile, guitarist (and sometime vocalist) Joe Guccione provides the slick riffs to give the band a surprisingly polished sound for a up and coming band.

Starting this February, the band will be opening up for the upstart Texas band Cartel and the “Snakes On A Plane” group, Cobra Starship. The band is currently touring with alt-rock heavyweights Fall Out Boy throughout most of the month of January. Hopefully, they don’t share Sidekick picture taking tips with Pete Wentz. But keep your eyes and ears peeled, you may be hearing Permanent Me on your alt-rock radio station before none too long.

Permanent Me will be opening for Cartel and Cobra Starship, and will be heading to Clutch Cargo’s on Sunday, March 11th. Tickets are on sale January 13th.
