I am getting confused watching the Red Wings play the Phoenix Coyotes. It’s more like a baseball score than a hockey score. 9-2 in the Wings favor with five minutes left in the third. COOL! Switch back to the Tigers/Athletics game and see the 5-3 score as the Tigers are still on top in the bottom of the 5th. YEAH! Yes, my friends, it is going to be another late night for this sports fanatic. And to be honest with you all, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Oh I don’t know everything there is to know about hockey, football, baseball & basketball; I just know that I love the games. One of these days, I think I need to invest in a TV with picture in picture so I don’t have to keep hitting “last channel” to keep up on everything. The Joe looks a little empty this evening. Could it be that it is a week night? It’s cool and wet outside? Or maybe it is the fact that the Detroit Tigers are in the ALCS for the first time in over 20 years. You make the call. I am going with the Tigers. Moving to the top of the 6th with the Tigers. At least the weather is nice in Oakland for the Tigers and the Athletics. I think we all know what it is going to be like when that first pitch is thrown on Friday. Good job, Wings! 2-1 on the season, 9-2 victory. After that first game loss, I wasn’t sure what to make of the new and transitional Wings, but then realized I couldn’t judge the season on that first game. So far, I am glad that they have turned this around all ready. But like baseball and basketball, it is a long season. Speaking of Basketball, the Detroit Pistons had their first pre-season game last night against the Miami Heat. Way to Go Pistons!! 84-64 win. Yeah, I know, it’s only the pre-season, but you have to start somewhere. Okay, I might as well get this over with and have the discussion of the Detroit Lions. Someone needs to buy that team from the Fords. Someone who isn’t going to make the team their “hobby”. Someone who is going to make the Lions, their BUSINESS. I’m not a big Jerry Jones fan, but what he did with the Dallas Cowboys turned that team around. Okay, that is all that I am going to say on the Lions for now. Bottom of the 7th and the A’s are making a game of it. Home run by Milton Bradley. The Motown boys are up by 2 going into the 8th. Okay, three outs and this game is over. Come on boys, you can do it. The Paws with Claws are up by 3 going into the bottom of the 9th. Wow, I’m surprised I am still awake. It’s after eleven (this is late for me on a weeknight.) I suppose it is just preparing me for those late night playoff games in the spring for the Red Wings – Western Conference – that is just so wrong!! Can you believe that the Red Wings scored more than the Tigers did this evening? Both these teams play again on Friday night in the Motor City. Downtown is going to be the happening place to be. Oh sure, the Tigers are now going to make us worry. It’s been two outs for a few batters now; let’s just get this thing over with. Can Todd Jones get Frank Thomas out with the bases loaded? I feel my blood pressure rising as I listen for I can’t watch. YES!! Thank you Granderson for catching that fly ball. Okay, so now the ALCS comes to Detroit. Three games here and all we need are two. It will be interesting to see how both teams react to the weather. From what I am hearing, the temps will be in the 30’s with the wind chill in the 20’s. Bundle up Tiger Fans, and show the Athletics that no matter what the weather, we are there for our Detroit Tigers!! |
