natives.jpgThe Detroit based jam/funk collective known as Natives of the New Dawn are back to take on and conquer the Detroit music scene and beyond, with their new release “Need Something”. Hoping to avoid the sophomore slump that happens to many artists, the sextet keep their blend of southern rock, funk and soul, and hopes it will lead them to glory.

Led by the dual vocal attack of singer/guitarist Joe Fikany and emcee Vince Mann, the group gives a great college style party vibe with songs like ‘People” and “Good Day”. The band keeps a laid back approach to their sound through most of “Need Something”, which is something the average person could use a little more of at this point in time.

With tracks such as “Flashback” and “Bliss”, “Need Something” is the follow up to their 2004 debut, “Sunshine Chronicles”. The group stays true to their original sound, and doesn't try to jump onto any of the trends going on in music today. The range of music styles keeps the music fresh and engaging. So, don’t except to hear some whiny Green Day knockoff, or a band that tries to pass themselves off as the 98,000th “garage” band.

The group has played various gigs across country, including a summer gig on the Warped Tour last summer. Warped is a tour the band will be revisiting this summer, with a string of dates on the nomadic hot season staple; where the band will once again appear on the Ernie Ball Music Man Stage.

In the meantime, the group has a record release party set to hit the Royal Oak Music Theatre on March 31st, hosted by the Stay & Play Social Club. Natives also has an extensive summer tour planned, with a June 17th blowout at the Majestic Theatre lined up that's a not to miss show.

The album “Need Something” will be available for digital download and streaming in the last week of March, and will be available at retail outlets on May 1st. Make sure to see what all the buzz is about…
