I’m tired of it. I think I’ve been out of the “dating” loop too long and now it’s just too difficult to try to jump back in. I’ve been out on a couple dates so far since the last break-up, and I have to say that there was just something missing. I know that it’s not because I’m waiting for a guy to come and sweep me off my feet. I’m looking for a guy to convince me that I’d rather go home with him than go home and... well... date myself. I think what I need is a Tuesday night affair.

Last Memorial Day, my good friend Angela and I were talking over margaritas about having a “bad girl summer.” The summer would include two things: 1) Lots of drinking; and 2) A Tuesday night affair. The drinking just seemed like a normal progression (we drink a lot anyway and summertime just means more sunlight drinking time), but the Tuesday night affair was something that I was completely intrigued by. The idea originally came from the movie, “An Affair of Love” in which a French woman places a personals ad for a “pornographic affair.” A man answers the ad and every Thursday afternoon, the couple meets for tea and cognac and then off they go to check into a hotel. They don’t know each other's names or where they live, but they still develop this amazing relationship of love based entirely on sex.

Thursdays are bad for me, so I’ve decided that I’m looking for a Tuesday night affair. I was too busy jumping from boyfriend to boyfriend last summer, but I think that a Tuesday night affair would be a perfect way for me to jump back into the game and prepare for “Bad Girl Summer, ’06.” Besides, what else is there to do on a Tuesday evening?

So, for all of you who are as intrigued as I am by the idea of a once-a-week affair, here are the general rules for a Tuesday night affair. Yes, there are rules. That’s what makes it fun.

• Rule 1: It has to be on a Tuesday or a Thursday. Wednesdays have bad mid-week karma and Mondays and weekends should be reserved for other things.
• Rule 2: Secrecy. The two of you have to keep the affair under wraps. Unfortunately here in the states, as opposed to Paris, we can’t just go down the street and check into a decent room for a couple hours without getting tagged a whore. You can have the affair wherever you want – your place, your lover’s place, on a pool table – it doesn’t matter. Just keep it under wraps. I know that I’ll end up telling a friend or two about it, but no more than that. Secrecy is half the fun.
• Rule 3: You are not dating each other – you are specifically lovers. You can go out for a drink or two beforehand or even afterwards, but under no circumstances is this person to become your next boyfriend/girlfriend. Booty calls are also out of the question. Besides, booty calls are for those guys/girls who you really don’t want to see too often except for when you’re horny. Keep it that way. Your Tuesday night affair is supposed to be with someone who you will actually enjoy seeing once a week for an indefinite amount of time.
• Rule 4: When it’s over, it’s over. Enjoy it for what it was.

Alright, now all you sleazy guys who are thinking of sneaking in on my Tuesday evenings, you can just forget about it. I already have my candidates! The rest of you, have fun. It’s starting to get warm outside… might as well heat things up even more!
