"Giant" Motorcycle Swap Meets Enter 31st Season Everything for Rider or Machine... Bikes, Trikes, Customs, Parts & HEARSES?

OK now, admit it: You've never thought about having your last ride be in a trike-drawn hearse, have you? Well, after seeing the hearse from the Tombstone Hearse Company, you might want to add it to your list of your last requests, along with your tattooed buds as pallbearers and Born to be Wild by the church choir. Even if that's not your style, there's sure to be something you'll enjoy at this year's Giant Motorcycle Swap Meet at the State Fair this coming Sunday, February 26, from 11am to 4pm.

Thousands of bikers and eager motorcycle enthusiasts will shake the winter blahs and seek that new "ride" they've been dreaming about. Building choppers and customizing stock bikes has increased due to TV shows featuring bike builders from around the nation, including several from the Detroit area such as; Ron Finch, Steve Broyles, Eric Gorges and painters like The Wiz who did the Red Wings bike on display at Hockeytown USA.

Event director Staton Lorenz says, "We seek out the best painters, fabricators, parts and accessories vendors, leather and apparel crafters and custom builders and put them under one roof (two buildings full) each February. Private individuals, collectors and hoarders also make it interesting by cleaning out their barns and bringing all those hard-to-find parts and cycles."

Giant M/C Swap Meets are famous for variety and meeting all needs if possible so...Tombstone Hearse Co. will display the "Ultimate Way To Go." A beautiful carriage, that Fisher Body would be proud of, that is pulled by a Harley-Davidson Trike. If you're a "biker" you just wouldn't feel right heading out for that farewell ride in a Cadillac...especially with your friends paired off, on their favorite iron horses, following in tribute. More info on the company and the service are in the accompanying article.

The essentials of the biker lifestyle are offered as well: helmets, tires, batteries, leather jackets, pants, vests, chaps, saddlebags and chrome accessories, wheels, front ends, frames, tanks and seats. Tools, trailers, trike conversions, boots, leather repair, insurance...the list goes on. EVERYTHING for rider or machine, including some beautiful custom-styled motorcycles and the men and women who built them.

See the '06 Harley, Victory and Saxon motorcycles, Champion & Motortrike conversions and a wide variety of like-new motorcycles offered by private individuals "turning their spares into cash."

Event hours are: 11am till 4pm, Adults: $8, Kids 6-12 $2. Parking is $5. Doorprizes @ 1/2 hr.

Location: State Fairgrounds...Woodward Ave at 8 Mile Rd. Enter the Woodward Gate.
