![]() On the verge of Super Bowl madness, the Mike Shinoda-lead Fort Minor came to Detroit, and provided a well versed hour long set, which focused on the material from their The Rising Tied album, as well as a few surprise Linkin Park cuts. After underground faves Little Brother had the crowd of 800 going, a percentage of people left before Fort Minor hit the stage. With fellow rapper Ryu and Styles of Beyond in town, Shinoda came out with the group’s most known cut, Remember The Name, which name checked most rock albums of the 90’s, and was a good start to the show. Surprises were plenty early, with the tight version of the X-ecutioners cut with Shinoda, It’s Goin’ Down, and the rap verses of the huge Linkin Park hit In The End, which had the curious LP fans very happy early. Shinoda provided an easy going stage presence, and seemed very excited to do his own project, outside of the Linkin Park material. Along with the other rappers, they brought a good flow to tracks like Believe, which may be the best cut on the The Rising Tied album. The wildest cut was saved for the end, with the bound to be sports-pump-up anthem, Petrified. Shinoda knows that this a vanity project, and is not going to challenge Linkin Park’s sales anytime soon. But for him, and for the crowd, it was a decent project to take part in before the next Linkin Park CD comes out. |
