I am going out on a limb here.

I am 31, pretty much went everywhere in Detroit, seen everything in Detroit, and have enjoyed every minute of it. But last night, Bud Light and Maxim Magazine might have gone overboard and thrown the best party in Detroit in recent memory.

Whoever was in charge of putting this together needs to win the gold medal for party promotion. First, teams of models and Bud Light representatives would hit the local hot spots, giving the beautiful people an “invitation only” pass to the party. The date, time, and location were not shown, only a website and a number. Upon logging on to the site, you put your number in and you immediately received an email with the time and place.

The Roostertail in Detroit was the place. 9PM the time. Thursday night was the day. Brilliant, if you ask me, since not much goes on Thursday night but most consider it a party-day. Upon entrance, we were greeted with doormen in black suits who opened up the doors to my dreamland. A midget in a “Got Midget?” shirt shakes my hand as I stare into a movie camera, my face on every TV in the bar.

Flat panel screens, lights, and women line the Roostertail from front to back. The bar was surrounded with 5 or 6 platforms where girls from Sevin danced to the techno beats and hip-hop grooves in their colorful, skimpy outfits. The DJ had a great set-up, with four video screens playing videos complimenting the dance tracks. To the right, they had an actual model photo shoot, where women would be hit with a fan and professional lighting, with their faces then shown on the screens all around.

On the deck, a good looking couple were getting a photo shoot done, with professional lighting and camera crews working diligently to get the perfect shot.

Let me tell you something. I didn’t realize Detroit had so many good-looking people. From front to back, side-to-side, it was supermodel after supermodel. From 5’2” to 6’4”, if you liked women, there were at least 10 of them you could consider to be your “dream woman”.

Now as far as the guys are concerned, we joked that there must have been a sale on striped shirts at Express because every guy wore one, untucked, with messy hair, and the OC leather wristband. I was happy to see only one trucker hat…but the Gucci sunglasses had to go. Thankfully, I was the only asshole in a Hawaiian shirt, since I did not want to look like all the other guys trying to be Ashton Kutcher or the “guy from The OC”.

Let’s get back to the women. Not only did they all look like models, but also they were actually friendly. It seems as if the hottie/snotty stigma is finally wearing off. I know they weren’t wowed by my charm or good looks, so I assumed it was genuine.

This is one party I did not want to leave…2AM was getting closer, but I would have stayed until 6AM if the good folks at the Michigan Liquor Control Commission would have allowed it.

Thinking back this morning with a glazed look in my eye and a cloudy head, I am questioning myself, could this have been the best party I have been to in Detroit?

I don’t know for sure. I have been to 30 parties where I had to piece together the night the day after and I’ll tell you this, I am glad I remembered this one.

Thank you Bud Light. Thank you Maxim Magazine. Thank you Detroit.
