Colic’s self titled studio EP debut is a must have. My favorite track on this CD is “Away From You”. The whole CD in general is pretty great. Everyone else’s seemed to like the catchy single, “Promise Me Anything” best, but they're all worth listening to. To check out the band (and hear their music) go to their Myspace page.

From this Detroit band’s first official show in 2002 at Paychecks in Hamtramck to their EP (released in June of this year), Colic has become a tight melodic hard rock band that is, in a phrase, a pleasure to listen to. I’ve listened to it all the way through it 5 or 6 times, and already know some of the choruses.

Colic has gotten radio play from 89X, the WRIF, and XM Unsigned. Crunchy guitar riffs, a strong rhythm section, understandable lyrics and pleasing harmonies are only some of the reasons you should go out and buy this CD. It’s a bargain at $5, and you should definitely buy a couple extras to put under the tree.

Their sound is reminiscent of early 90s Britpop and alternative and I have to say that I WOULD throw them into a rotation with the likes of either The Stone Roses or more modern radio rock.

If you caught the Warped tour in either 2004 or 2005, or stumbled on to one of their local gigs, you may have even seen them live. From all reports, their show is definitely worth seeing. There aren’t any upcoming dates posted on their site, but I’m certain that they will definitely start playing out again after the holiday madness is over.

Here’s a quote from a new fan, “I like that as a musician, I can’t always predict the melody line of the song, but they are melodic in a comfortable way-- I'm not thrown off balance”.

Colic’s new 6-song EP is available on CDBaby.com.
