Well, it's another Thanksgiving. This holiday happens to be my favorite one. It's free of some of the pretense that surrounds Christmas. It's about Family, Football, Fun, and FEEDING. Yep. That's right. Turkey day is all about the eating.

If you want to read about the origins and traditions of Thanksgiving, the Wikipedia site can be found here. It's a cool history and gives both the US and Canadian background. We've been celebrating the holiday in North America since 1578 --- off and on. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln set apart the final Thursday in November of that year as Thanksgiving Day - we as a country have celebrated it since.

Well, I'm full... watched Detroit fall apart in a 27-7 loss to the Falcons, and ate enough for two of me... now I'm going to participate in our Thanksgiving day tradition of watching movies and falling asleep. The Denver Dallas game is going strong on the other TV and I'm satisfied. The Wings beat the Avs 7-3 last night, and the Pistons rolled over the Nuggets 114-89. The Lions are dissappointing, but like all loyal Lions fans... there's always next year.

Today, I'm thankful for my Family - all across America and wherever they all are. I'm thankful to you as the DetroitBuzz readers. I'm thankful to live in America with all our idiosyncracies. I'm thankful for good friends and good times.

Thank you for your support of DetroitBuzz.com. Look for the new site, MyCityBuzz.com in the new year. Tell us what makes you thankful. Go to the DetroitBuzz Messageboard and speak your piece. Most of all? Have a great, wonderful, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
