etown.jpgELIZABETHTOWN: Drew Baylor (Orlando Bloom), once a rising star at a leading athletic shoe company, has just been fired due to the overwhelming failure of his design for a sneaker andthe $972 million loss his company suffered because of it. As if that wasn’t bad enough, things get worse: Drew receives a phone call informing him that his father has passed away – and now, he must get on a plane for Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to retrieve his father’s remains. On the plane ride, Drew meets Claire (Kirsten Dunst), a flight attendant and unstoppably positive woman who changes the course of his life. It is in Kentucky that Drew comes to learn the breadth of his father’s life and his own family roots. A love letter to the resilience of the life force, “Elizabethtown” is a charming, music-filled journey that proves amazing things can happen when you least expect them. Also starring, Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin, Bruce McGill, Judy Greer, and Jessica Biel. Written and directed by Cameron Crowe. (Paramount Pictures) This film is rated PG-13.

good night and good luck.jpgGOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK: Opens in Detroit - EXCLUSIVELY AT THE LANDMARK MAPLE ART THEATER. “Good Night, and Good Luck”, takes place during the early days of broadcast journalism in 1950's America. It chronicles the real-life conflict between television newsman Edward R. Murrow (David Strathairn) and Senator Joseph McCarthy and the Permanent Sub-committee on Investigations (Government Operations Committee). With a desire to report the facts and enlighten the public, Murrow, and his dedicated staff - headed by his producer Fred Friendly (George Clooney) and Joe Wershba (Robert Downey Jr.) in the CBS newsroom - defy corporate and sponsorship pressures to examine the lies and scaremongering tactics perpetrated by McCarthy during his communist 'witch-hunts'. A very public feud develops when the Senator responds by accusing the anchor of being a communist. In this climate of fear and reprisal, the CBS crew carries on regardless and their tenacity pays off when McCarthy is brought before the Senate and made powerless as his lies and bulling tactics are finally uncovered. Also starring, Patricia Clarkson, Shirley Wershba, Frank Langella, Bill Paley, Ray Wise, Grant Heslov, and Jeff Daniels. GRAMMY® Award-winner Dianne Reeves appears and performs in the film as well. Written and directed by George Clooney. (Warner Independent Pictures) This film is rated PG.

SEPARATE LIES: Opens in Detroit - EXCLUSIVELY AT THE LANDMARK MAIN ART THEATER. THE FOG: A thick fog enshrouds a coastal town. The fog is reminiscent of one 100 years earlier that wrecked a ship and drowned the seamen aboard. Sure enough, the sailors are back and out to kill whomever they find. Starring Tom Welling, Maggie Grace and Selma Blair; Directed by Rupert Wainwright. (Columbia Pictures) This film is rated PG-13.
