Just in time for the end of summer, the Endless Summer tour hits Michigan for a last blast of the warm weather show featuring Chicago based band 1997 and Hawaiian band National Product. Call the California via Oahu based band National Product the perfect summertime emo band. The band moved from Hawaii to the Golden State in 2000 and started the long voyage through the California club scene. After a few moving adventures, the band finally solidified their lineup around 2004 and began to start touring nonstop. The band cut their teeth on the Warped Tour in 2005 and 2006, before the release of their debut record Luna, which came out in the summer of 2007. The album is anchored by the regional alt-rock radio hit “Love Me” and the far more subdued “Where Do You Go.” The band enters the Endless Summer tour after a past Canadian tour with Poison The Well.
Meanwhile, Chicago based 1997 wields a similar brand of alt-rock and also ranges into different musical territory with their second record On The Run which was released back in May. Fresh off Warped Tour dates themselves, lead singer Kerri Mack and the rest of 1997. The album features tracks like “4 A.M. Conversations” and the lead off track “One Track Mind, Four Track Heart.” The band has been touring heavily behind the new album, as well as their debut, A Better View of the Rising Moon.
The Endless Summer Tour wraps on September 27th, but Michigan fans get a chance as the tour rolls through Mac’s Bar in Lansing this Saturday (August 30th). Detroiters, if laid back, summery alt-rock does it for you, make the trip to Lansing for may just be a very good time.
National Product and 1997 play Mac’s Bar in Lansing on Saturday, August 30th. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. Additional dates can be found at www.myspace.com/nationalproduct.
