Ok, HBO’s summer
lineup wasn’t looking too hot last year.John From
Cincinnati was an unintelligent mess and we were still waiting
for Entourage to come back. However, a pleasant surprise from
New Zealand came in the form of folk-rock-comedy duo Bret
McKenzie and Jemaine Clement came to American TV with their
self-titled show. The first season was an
odd and quirky blend of dry wit and humor that played on the duo
being mistaken as Austrialians, dealing with oddball girlfriends and
their one or two fans and their too punctual manager, Murray. Don’t
worry, the guys’ show got picked up for a second season, which
starts in late June. But the duo is on tour
now behind their self-titled album, which shocked everyone by
debuting at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums last month. Most of
the songs were heard on the show last year and is a prime example of
the bands’ humor. The band is out on the road throughout the
month.
Flight of the Conchords are at the Michigan Theater on Saturday May 10th. Tickets are SOLD OUT.
