ImageCape Coral, Florida doesn’t really seem like a hotbed of hard rock, but Art reassures us that, when he lived down in south Florida, the west side of the state was a hard rock haven. So, it's no surprise that Ekotren has been making inroads with their debut full length record, Light The Fire. Out on Blind Prophecy Records, Ekotren is a band that would either feel at home on hard rock or just plain ‘ol metal radio. Their single “Tranquilized” is just starting to light up request lines in certain parts of the country. Meanwhile, the title track from the album continues to cause a major jolt on Sirius Hard Attack, where it was the #3 single last week, right behind metal legends Max Cavalera and Testament.
Light The Fire is the follow up to the 2006 EP, The Tables Have Turned. Ekotren is opening for former Rob Zombie band member Riggs’s new band, Scum Of the Earth. If you liked Zombie’s stuff, it's gonna sound eerily similar to that material. Also on the bill is the LA industrial band Rikets.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. Additional dates can be found at www.myspace.com/ekotren.
