Ill Bill, born William
Braunstein
, came from the underground hip-hop group Non Phixion and
struck out on his own with What’s Wrong With Bill,
released in 2004. This is the same New
York underground that nurtured his brother,
Necro, in the scene. Bill is getting ready
to release his next record, The Hour Of Reprisal, which
will be self-released in July 2008. The dark and somewhat politically
charged lyrics stay the same, when checking out new cuts from the
upcoming record. Tracks like “War Is My Destiny” and “A
Bullet Never Lies” lead the way for the upcoming record. Not
much more has been released at this point, but expect it to be as
venomous and lethal as the first two cuts are. Guest appearances on
the record come from Killswitch Engage and Soulfly, just to name a
few. When Bill isn’t
doing solo stuff, he shows up on mixtapes and takes part in the
hip-hop collective La Coka Nostra, which has a lineage
to early-90s hip-hop stars House of Pain as Everlast and House of Pain and Limp Bizkit member DJ Lethal part
of the group as well.
Ill Bill is part of a
nationwide tour with Tech Nine and Paul Wall. The tour started in
March and will wrap late in May. The tour lands at the Emerald
Theatre tonight. So, if you want to be one of the first to hear
Bill’s new material, check him out before Tech Nine hits the
stage.
Ill Bill is
opening for Tech Nine at the Emerald Theatre this Friday, May 2nd.
Tickets are $25 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.
