My Donut with Andre – Auditions With the new tax incentive for Michigan filmmaking having gone into effect last Monday, April 7, Michigan is a great spot to be for film. Steve Barman will be one of the many filmmakers taking advantage of this new opportunity. He will be directing the film, My Donut with Andre. The film, written by Barman, plays cleverly on the film title, My Dinner with Andre. But the similarities end there. While Dinner is a rather boring, overly cerebral attempt at filmmaking, Donut promises to be much more light-hearted and entertaining. Dinner has one location and far too much dialogue. Donut will contain slackers, psychos, losers, romance, comedy and rival donut shops. Auditions will be held on Sunday, April 20 from 3pm 9pm at ACN Video & Photography Inc., 29498 Dequindre Road, Warren, MI 48092. The plan is to cast the five main characters in order to film a trailer for the movie. The trailer will then be used to secure financing for the feature. This is a common practice in lower budget productions. Michigan’s own Sam Raimi used this technique to create Evil Dead. For further information on casting options and a more detailed plot description, go to the production’s Craig’s List posting: detroit.craigslist.org/tfr/642239549.html To contact the production: Email: redfezadmin@gmail.com For more on the Michigan Film Incentives: I plan to follow this production as I have the film Offshore. I think it will be great fun to watch the production unfold. Stay tuned for further updates. Viva Michigan Film! |
