Ok, the title of their
current tour is a rip-off of American Gladiators as the
“American Gladiatour” headliners Bedlight For Blue Eyes
get back on the road for a three week tour with The High Court and
Asteria. The New Jersey band is
out touring behind their latest record, Life Of Life’s
Terms. The 11-track record seems like an emo record at first glance, but the themes and sound of the record are firmly based in
tried and true alt-rock. Songs like “Walk With Me” have
a very 90s populist alt-rock feel to them, with sweeping
chorus and recalls guitar riffs from that era. Highly accessible
tracks such as “Waste My Time” seem like their just the
tip of the iceberg for this band. Tracks like “Ms Shapes”
may be the catchiest of the tracks on Life On Life’s
Terms, with singer Danny Rinaldi’s vocals matching the
best with the music. The album is a definite step forward and
hopefully keeps the band moving in that same direction.
The 90s influence is no surprise; the band did contribute their cover of Third Eye Blind’s “Jumper” for the Punk Goes 90s compilation a few years back. The band has made light of their bad luck on tour, with the band’s van breaking down a lot in 2007. They’re hoping that 2008 will bring them better luck and this first tour is the first step in that road to some better luck. The current tour runs through March 29th, and hits Lansing on March 16th and in the Detroit area on March 17th. As the band makes the rounds, they do not have more than a few days off before going on tour with Kaddisfly through April 19th. The band will more than likely be touring throughout the year as they get the word out about the new record. But if you get a chance, check out some quality under the radar alt-rock from Bedlight For Blue Eyes. Bedlight for Blue Eyes plays at Mac’s Bar in Lansing on March 16th and the Days Inn in Hazel Park on March 17th. Tickets are available at the door.
