ImageFRIDAY & SATURDAY
Kid Rock @ Joe Louis Arena - We haven't seen Kid Rock in Detroit since he did a small show at the Emerald Theatre in Mount Clemens right before his Rock n Roll Jesus album came out, but now Mr. Ritchie is returns home as his more proper arena tour kicks into high gear. The “Rock n Roll Revival” tour is his version of a rock revue show; complete with a revolving door of artists joining him onstage. The big Detroit shows feature former Run DMC member Rev Run and J.Geils Band leader Peter Wolf. These are probably the biggest shows in Detroit so far in this young year, and love ‘em or hate ‘em, he always puts on one hell of a show.
Friday’s show is SOLD OUT and very few tickets remain for Saturday’s show. Tickets are available at www.olympiaentertainment.com.

FRIDAY
All That Remains & Chimaira @ Majestic Theatre - Almost a year after selling out the Magic Stick, the Minneapolis band tries their luck with the larger venue attached to the Stick. ATR’s The Fall of Ideals passed the 100,000 mark in sales late last year, which is a large number for an indie metal band in this day of illegal downloading and delivers some unbelievable riffs. To this writer, Chimaira should probably be headlining this show, but it’s a great double bill for metal nonetheless. For a MCB interview with Chimaira singer Mark Hunter, click here.
Tickets are $15 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Hed(pe) @ Harpos - The So-Cal rap-rock outfit came back with one of their more intense offerings, Insomnia, late last year. It’s highly doubtful if it will reach the cult-like status of their early releases, but it should entertain their core group of fans. Kottonmouth Kings’ side project Kingspade will co-headline the bill, which features members D-Loc and Bobby Ritcher.
Tickets are $15 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Dave Attell @ The Fillmore - The very deadpan comic Attell is criss-crossing the country right now on his latest stand up tour. In case the name is semi-familiar, Attell used to host the nightlife skewing “Insomniac” show on Comedy Central which had Attell checking out the nightlife in different cities and usually getting into drunken escapades along the way. Believe me, in the world of “Kenny vs. Spenny” and other drivel Comedy Central puts out these days; they desperately need “Insomniac” back.
Tickets are $34.50 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Ether Aura @ Magic Bag - The local Detroit duo of Tony Himera and vocalist Kate Hinote have shifted their sound a bit, opting for a more roots rock/Americana type style focus on their new Sembelance EP. The band has recently added a drummer and bassist to the mix, and this will be the band’s second show with the new lineup. The band will be opening for Crashing Cairo and Us vs. Them. Check out more from Ether Aura on Myspace.

Tickets are $7 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

SATURDAY
Flogging Molly @ The Fillmore - O.K., it's not St. Patrick’s Day yet. But if you’re in the drinking mood, this Los Angeles band is gonna deliver the goods 5 weeks early. The band’s last album, Within A Mile Of Home debuted in the Top 20 of the Billboard Album Chart and is preparing to release their next album, Float, on March 4th. The band’s solid fan base keeps on reveling in their Irish folk rock with punk to create a rollicking sound. It’s surprising to see this out of a singer (Dave King), who used to sing in Fastway (remember “Say What You Will?” If not, your hair metal pass needs to be revoked), but it comes off very well on record and live. The band recently started their “Green 17” tour on February 1st and will wind up around, you guessed it, March 17th. This is the fourth year Flogging Molly has done this tour, and you are guaranteed to have a good time, drunk or sober.
Tickets are $22.50 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com

Envy on the Coast @ The Shelter - The Long Island band is tirelessly touring behind their 2007 release Lucy Gray. The band’s latest single, “Temper, Temper,” has received some airplay from local rock juggernaut WRIF. The band’s prog-rock arrangement give it a bit of an edge, as well as singer Ryan Hunter’s lyrics of death and religion and keeps it out of the whiny girlfriend territory. The band is touring with the Audition right now, who headline the show.
Tickets are $13 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Finch @ St. Andrew’s Hall - The band that broke up in 2006 didn’t decide to stay idle for long. After trying their hands at different projects, the California band decided to give their emo meets hard rock vibe another try at the masses. Hopefully, this time it wont end in a fight with Disturbed on stage.
Tickets are $15 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

SUNDAY
Hellyeah @ The Machine Shop - Isn’t it time for Mudvayne to start getting back on the road? Well, until that happens, Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett are continuing with their successful supergroup project with Vinnie Paul of Pantera fame. This will probably be the last tour for the band before the guys in the band go back to their usual bands. Nonpoint comes back to Flint, after making a huge imprint on the Machine Shop towards the end of last year. Bury Your Dead opens the show and with their third lead singer in the past 18 months, the Boston hardcore band is just looking to stay alive.
Tickets are SOLD OUT. Tickets may become available at www.etix.com a day or two before the show.
