ImageIn Detroit's concert scene this FRIDAY, Droid hits Harpos with Ill Nino and Bobaflex. After fans responded quite well by tearing up the sod during their set at Family Values this past summer, the Long Beach quintet hopes that the same love on their tour with New Jersey nu-metal mainstays Ill Nino. Songs like “The Resurrection” and “Fueled By Hate” are aggro-metal down to its core, and will open up a pit in no time flat. The band is currently signed to Korn’s Munky Shaffer’s Emotional Syphon record label. There were rumors swirling around that there was a falling out between Shaffer and the members of Droid, but those rumors were squashed almost immediately. Led by the furious voice of James Eason, Droid is one of those bands that is on the forefront of the underground of metal at this moment, but one can tell that the right song could send them into the Lamb of God/ Killswitch Engage sales territory of the new metal movement. Droid is sure to be a wild addition to this bill along with the only band I can ever think of that came out of West Virginia, Bobaflex . Ill Nino headlines the bill, supporting their upcoming album, Enigma. The record, their first with Cement Shoes Records, has been delayed until sometime in February. But in the meantime, songs like “When It Cuts” and “This Time’s For Real” will satisfy fans. Tickets are $15 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. Also Friday night, North Mississippi All Stars will play St. Andrew’s Hall check out the SPOTLIGHT for more info on this band show.

Wow, 1998 called and they want their tour back! SATURDAY's biggest show in town will be a little bit of a throwback as Matchbox Twenty & Alanis Morrisette play The Palace of Auburn Hills. Even though Matchbox 20 lead singer Rob Thomas went onto solo success, Matchbox continues to sell records and survive throughout an entire decade. Meanwhile, Morrisette continues to please fans of the 90s style of estrogen driven rock, but that doesn’t mean it has translated into massive sales in this decade. Tickets range from $49.50 to $79.50 and are available at www.palacenet.com.

South Carolina's Emery plays St. Andrew’s Hall. The band has received a lot of exposure from Warped Tour and tireless touring around the States. Their latest album I’m Only A Man is out on Tooth and Nail Records. Mayday Parade and As Cities Burn are opening. Tickets are $15 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

No Shows on SUNDAY. It's the Super Bowl, Duh! What else would you be doing on Super Bowl Sunday? Tom Brady & Company hope to make it their 4th Super Bowl title in 7 seven as the Pats take on the Giants. Didn’t we see this game a month or so ago? We’re taking the Patriots by a bunch, even with Brady’s bad foot and all. The game is in Arizona. No, we don’t have tickets and neither do you.<

MONDAY's are for Manson. Marilyn Manson is at The Fillmore Detroit and after getting blown off stage back in August, Manson hopes to rebound with a theatre tour supporting his Eat Me, Drink Me album. After seeing him many times, it's almost guaranteed that Manson won't deliver a subpar show twice in a row. Expect musical and visual fireworks ablaze for this not to miss show.
Tickets range from $35 to $45 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. .
