ImageIt’s been a while since we heard from Lenny Kravitz, who practically made the rock charts his own personal playground back in the mid and late 90s. With a string of hits like “Are You Gonna Go My Way” and “Fly Away,” Kravitz’s stylistic changes have helped him survive the music business and after taking a small break, is now back with his new record It’s Time For A Love Revolution.

We think you know Kravitz’s story; hit big in ’91 with his Mama Said album, got even bigger with his Are You Gonna Go My Way record and continued to score hits over the years from albums such as Circus, 5 and Lenny.

Following 2004’s Baptism record, Revolution is trying to recall a sound closer to Kravitz’s 1988 debut, the stellar Let Love Rule. With tracks like the more laid back “I’ll Be Waiting,” the album offers more balance than the straight ahead rock charge of Baptism. “Bring It On” offers a glimpse to what the other half of the new record sounds like and does not disappoint long time fans. The 14-track album is due out February 5th.

But before that, Kravitz is gearing up with a short 9 date tour, which started on January 17th in Santa Monica, California. He is getting the shows in before his slew of TV appearances around the album’s release. One of the lucky 9 cities to get the preview is right here in Detroit where Kravitz will play The Fillmore Detroit on January 27th (Sunday). You're sure to hear a good hour or two of hits, as well as new tracks. Lenny has also teamed up with MySpace for the tour and offered a contest back in November for fans to interact with Kravitz while on tour. Women will obviously swoon over Kravitz’s still good looks (him and Jon Bon Jovi must hang out), and guys will still jam on the tons of tracks he has busted out of the years. So, make sure you buy a ticket and check out Lenny Kravitz before everyone else.

Lenny Kravitz plays the Fillmore Detroit this Sunday, January 27th. Tickets range from $35 to $45 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. Additional dates can be found at www.lennykravitzloverevolution.com. His “It’s Time For A Love Revolution” album is due out February 5th. .
