"Anyone can be great because anyone can serve"
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I don't claim to understand the volatility of racial tensions worldwide. In fact, as a man who grew up somewhere in between black and white, I can't even claim to fully understand them in my own backyard.

What i can tell you is that Reverend King helped to show us the promise of a brighter future. One where we all worked together to achieve a greater impact. He knew that despite all of our differences, we are all basically the same. He called us to action and rallied us around his ideals. He had a dream and he enrolled us in it.

He was a change agent for good. On this Monday celebration of his day of birth I will contemplate what the world would be like were he not silenced 40 years ago this April. I will also be grateful for the time he spent and the path he has shown us all.

We still have some dreams to live up to and even more dreaming to do.

Peace,

Terry Bean
