It's a pretty weak weekend on the concert front in Detroit. The biggest show in town is without a doubt Hannah Montana @ Joe
Louis Arena. This isn't the type of show we'd normally cover in our Weekend Planners, but Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter is currently a big hit. Chances are though, if you care about this show, you already know it's going on. I'm proud to day that a few months ago I'd never ever heard of Hannah Montana, but now the phenomenon can't be escaped. If you're going, see if you can notice when the body double is filling in for the underage superstar. Tickets are SOLD OUT,
and are available on stubhub.com for extremely way too much money. If you're looking for a show that's just a little bit different on Friday night, check out Necro @ Saint Andrews
Hall. The Brooklyn deathcore rapper took the beating of a lifetime when
he played at Sounds of the Underground back in July. (Check out the rundown here) He has since
rebounded with a Halloween show with Insane Clown Posse, whose fans
may have understood the themes of the rapper a bit better. The rapper
is out supporting his Death Rap album, which features
many hardcore and heavy metal stars on the record. Tickets are $15 and are
available at www.ticketmaster.com.
Saturday night, I strongly recommend getting out and showing a little love to Hifi Handgrenades @
Small’s in Hamtramack so that at this time next year you'll be able to say "I saw them play at Small's in Hamtramack." The Detroit punk rock recently opened up
some shows for the Foo Fighters out West and are heading back out
with them and Against Me next month. The band is getting ready to
release their untitled next release, due out sometime this spring. Tickets are $20 and are
available at www.smallsbardetroit.com. On Sunday, Bayside lead singer Anthony Raneri goes out a little solo jaunt before he gets the
full band back together for a full fledged February & March tour with
Straylight Run. These solo shows will be completely acoustic and stripped
down for the fans of Bayside to hear favorites, as well as some new
tunes Raneri has concoted. Tickets are $10 and are
available at www.ticketmaster.com.
