Not much in the metal
world comes out of Iowa. Well, Slipknot did and god love ‘em,
but their Vol. 3 album may have let just a few of their
more extreme fans in a bit of mainstream denial. But here to raise
the rock flag for the city of Des Moines is the hardcore outfit Too
Pure to Die.Recently releasing their debut album Confidence For Consequence for Trustkill back in November, the band is out on the road supporting the record. The band recently signed with the label after a brief 2006 stint with fellow indie label Sumerian Records. The band’s buzz out on the road got them gigs with fellow MCB Spotlight Artists Misery Signals, as well as the Acacia Strain. Even though the metal is prevelant in Confidence, there are moments of southern rock and hardcore on the record as well. TPTD delivers blasting riffs from guitarists Jordan Peterson and Zack Johnson on tracks such as “Bad Luck” and “99” (not to be confused with the Haunted song of the same name). Lead singer Paul Zurlo’s vocals are a mix between Phil Anselmo (of Pantera fame) and Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta and can rip out a good scream or three on the record. The band is wrapping up a tour within the next week that will bring them to Detroit for a show at the Hayloft tonight (December 12th). Fellow hardcore and metal bands Beneath The Sky and White Chapel open up the show. If you miss them this time, the band is rumored to be touring with All That Remains next year after a European tour with Himsa in January. Too Pure to Die will be at the Hayloft tonight (December 12th). Tickets are $10 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com and at the door. Additional dates can be found at www.toopuretodie.net. . |
