Coming from the brutal
world of Trustkill Records comes a band that is not decidedly metal,
but highly infectous alt-rock from Winnipeg in the band Sick
City. I guess after the Jets left for Phoenix in the mid-90s,
Winnipeg residents didn’t have much else to do besides drink
Labatts and start up a band.
Lead by singer Josh Youngson, the band has recently released their Nightlife albums and are currently on tour behind the record. The album is a diverse record and shows off rockers such as “XX & XY” and “The Heist,” which guitarists Dorian Paszkowski and Dave Grabowski rip through with ease. But the band can also can play some piano ballads and instrumentals as well (gasp! Does Trustkill know this?) such as the stellar “City Lights” and the instrumental title track. Not a bad start from a band that got started at the tail end of 2004. The band has graced the stage at the Warped Tour and is busy hitting clubs north and south of the border. The band is currently touring with Every Avenue and the Mile After. The bands will be heading to the Hayloft in Mt. Clemens this Monday, November 26th. Bullet for My Valentine may grab the headlines at the label, but keep your eye on Sick City, because you will be overlooking a good band with a promising debut album. Sick City will be playing with Every Avenue and the Mile After at the Hayloft in Mt. Clemens this Monday, November 26th. Tickets are $10 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. Check www.trustkill.com/sickcity for more dates. . |
