Jim Gaffigan
rolled into Detroit's Fox Theater on Saturday and did not disappoint a full house at the Fox Theater.
Jim, as funny as expected and more, had the crowd roaring with laughter
from the very first joke. I literally did not stop laughing until he walked off stage after about an hour of some of his best material to date. He stayed true to his normal style where he told a couple of off color jokes and then followed them up with the funny voice he does for the inner monologue of what someone in the crowd might be thinking. For example, he told a joke and then said in the monologue voice, “That joke was bad, I just came to see the Hot Pocket jokes.” In case you're wondering, near the end of the routine, he does tell the Hot Pocket jokes (which were
hilarious) and he adds a few new ones along with the favorites.
There were no lulls during the show, every joke was a right on point.
His jokes are so funny because they're all about things that a normal
person does but doesn’t want
to admit. One of my favorites was one about sitting on the couch
watching TV and you look around and you can't find the remote. So you
think to yourself, I didn’t move, how did I lose it? Did I throw it? Oh well
I guess I'll just watch this infomercial. Most of his jokes are about
eating and being lazy, which of course everyone can relate too. That's
what makes his act so funny and the crowd agreed, laughing throughout the entire show.
After the show there was a huge line for
autographs and I overheard several conversations, all were an
overwhelming approval of the show with most people repeating jokes to their friends and laughing hysterically. I could have sat right back down and
watched the same show again and laughed just as hard. Jim Gaffigan gets a 10 out
of 10.
