Against Me @ Clutch Cargo’s - If you read MCB in a couple of weeks, there is just a small chance that some music critic may award Against Me’s major label debut “New Wave” as Album of the Year (just a rumor). The band is finally getting out to a big market tour, and is bringing angry political rapper Sage Francis along with them. After seeing them at Lollapalooza, you won't be disappointed.

The Cult @ The Fillmore Detroit - Back once again, Ian Astbury and company is back touring again, this time supporting their new album Born Into This. The new album may not hearken their classic material, but we are sure you will hear “She Sells Sanctuary” and “Fire Woman” and their other late 80s hard rock glory days.

Fall Out Boy w/ Gym Class Heroes @ The Palace - It’s safe to say that Fall Out Boy has conquered the emo world and is moving on to ruling Top 40 radio as well. Their Infinity On High has been one of the few album sale success stories of 2007 and is pumping out single after single. Their friends in Gym Class Heroes have had a great year as well, with winning MTV Awards across the board.

ImageWEDNESDAY, NOV. 21st

Motion City Soundtrack @ The Fillmore Detroit - The Minneapolis band celebrated a Top 20 album with their new album “Even If It Kills Me” back in September. Expect the band’s usual humorous and catchy tunes. The band is gaining some notoriety, but it is a slow burn on their way to major success. Warped Tour 2007 favorites Anberlin will open up the show.

Alter Bridge @ Clutch Cargo’s - After being dumped by Wind-Up Records for not wanting to bring back the god awful Creed, Alter Bridge re-emerged on Universal Records for their new “Blackbird” album. The album is based in some of the same elements as Creed, but far less preachy and way less pretentious than the Scott Stapp lead group, which makes it a bit more satisfying.

Bump & Natives of the New Dawn @ Majestic Theatre - Yeah, yeah, Natives moved out to LA, but consider this a hometown show for the jam friendly Bump and the hip-hop of Natives of the New Dawn.

Paul Oakenfold @ Clutch Cargo’s - Paul Oakenfold's tours behind his Greatest Hits & Remixes album, a 20-selection strong collection of his seminal dance recordings and remixes. Its track listing ranges from original productions, remixes of hit tracks by Justin Timberlake, Madonna, The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Mark Ronson and Underworld, plus soundtrack pieces such as David Arnold's James Bond Theme from the motion picture Die Another Day and Oakenfold's "Dread Rock" from Matrix Reloaded.

Hawthorne Heights @ Majestic Theatre - Now free from their Victory Records contract, the band is getting back on the road. Their new record should be out in the spring of 2008 on Hollywood Records. Perhaps their issues with the label will break them out of the doldrums of their emo ways.

Circa Survive @ Royal Oak Theatre - The Philly emo upstarts head back to town after their Warped Tour date as well. Fear Before the Fear Of Flames and Ours open up the show.

Dane Cook @ The Palace - Love him or hate him, Dane Cook has become one of the biggest comedians in the country right now. Currently starring in Dan in Real Life with Steve Carell and the recently released to DVD Mr. Brooks with Kevin Costner, Cook will most likely pack the house at the Palace, performing in the round. Perhaps he'll do some of those baseball playoff ads that were lampooned to perfection on “Saturday Night Live” a few weeks back.

Lewis Black @ Fox Theatre - In case Dane Cook’s hand gestures and puzzling humor is too light for you, Lewis Black will keep you company downtown with his brand of across the board ranting, from politics to everyday issues. Definitely going to be an entertaining hour or so with the former Daily Show correspondent.

M.I.A.@ Majestic Theatre - Can someone please explain the critics’ praise of the highly overrated Sri Lankan rapper. When seeing her at Lollapalooza, I was convinced that her speakers or microphones were off, but people seemed to eat it up. I guess if you’re looking for something unusual, here’s your chance.

SUNDAY, NOV. 25th
Kottonmouth Kings @ Clutch Cargo’s - Sure to be the stoniest show in Pontiac that night, the long time underground hip-hop collective heads back to the Detroit area in support of their new Cloud Nine album. If you don’t walk out of this one with a contact buzz, you must have been waiting outside.
