Image Every album that Coheed & Cambria have is what you can refer to as a concept album. Since their first record in 2001, the quartet has told the story of an alternate universe and the story of the Amory Wars. The band has now gained more popularity as the subsequent albums were released, and now it’s time to say goodbye to this storyline as Coheed brainchild Claudio Sanchez release the final chapter of the saga, No World For Tomorrow.

After the last two records (both gold records), 2003’s In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth and 2005’s Apollo: I’m Burning Star IV, Sanchez and company have crafted their most accessible and cohesive record with Tomorrow. The new record boasts some ripping riffs by Sanchez on tracks like “Feathers” and “Gravemakers and Gunslingers,” which show off the flare we have been growing accustomed to.

No World For Tomorrow has a special guest on drums after the departure of drummer Josh Eppard. Coheed asked Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins to handle the drumming duties on the record. According to Sanchez, it was Hawkins’ personality that kept the band together during the turbulent time period where Coheed were having initial issues with the recording of the new record.

As in many troubling situations, great music came out of it. The band ends the storyline in thrilling fashion with the 5 part, 25-minute track “The End Complete.” But don’t think that with the end of the story comes the end of Coheed & Cambria. The band is already vowing that the next record will be a prequel to the whole series of the story. With the detailed storyline, I am sure Sanchez may just have another story to tell after this one is done.

The band is heading out on tour this week, with a date at the Fillmore Detroit TONIGHT (November 1st). The month long club tour will finish up at the end of November and hard rock jam masters Clutch will open up. Beyond the new record, you are sure to hear faves like “Welcome Home” and “The Suffering” as well. Now, that is a show not to miss!

Coheed & Cambria will be playing at the Fillmore Detroit on Thursday, November 1st. Tickets are $27.50 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. Additional dates are available at www.coheedandcambria.com. .
