ImageSome people probably think there can't be much that would steer someone toward heavy music in a college town like Madison, Wisconsin. But if you've lived through the cold winters in the state, it's pretty easy to see where a band like Misery Signals could get their attitudes from.
The band is honing their progressive metal sound with their latest release, Mirrors and is working their way into carving a more technical niche in the current metal scene. The band is heavily influenced by groups like Swedish death metallers Meshuggah and American metal titans Metallica.

Fans looking for quick two-minute tracks won't find them here. Misery Signals is a group that likes to add more precision to their music. Many of the songs on Mirrors are in the five to seven minute range and allow time for the metal breakdowns, as well as some ambient breaks like tracks such as “The Failsaft” and “Migrate.” Lead singer Karl Schubach opts for some of the metal-core wails, but is branching out with more melody on the new record as well on tracks like “Anchor." The guitar core of Ryan Morgan and Stuart Ross mix that European death metal influence with modern day metal crunch.

The band has been a touring machine since the release of Mirrors late last year. The band has toured with All That Remains and Norma Jean. They are also veterans of the Warped Tour as well. But the band is heading out on their own headlining tour, coming to the Hayloft Liquor Stand in Mt. Clemens, MI this Saturday, September 8th.

Misery Signals will bring the heaviness to the sweaty and always rowdy Hayloft as they show the East Side and visitors from all over Detroit that Wisconsin can really bring it.

Misery Signals will be at the Hayloft on Saturday, September 8th. Tickets are $12 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. Additional dates are available at www.miserysignals.net.
