Whether you've just discovered me or you’ve been reading my column for years, you probably don’t agree with most of the words coming out of my mouth. Great news. I don’t care! Don’t expect me to sit here and fawn over the latest Paris Hilton arrest or Lindsay Lohan's rehab stint, because you’re not gonna find it here. You want news about Hannah Montana or High School Musical, go watch the Disney Channel. And if you think I am gonna talk about American Idol or Grey's Anatomy, please just stop reading now. Expect good, hard hitting music insight and information about the music world and the world around it, not people that are famous for nothing. And if I do start ranting about that, either email me at arthatesyou@detroitbuzz.com, or stop reading.

  • Mitch Emerson... A regular Movie Guy  ( 52 items )
ImageMitch Emerson, a member of the I.F.C.S., (Internet Film Critic Society) is a 32 year old movie buff who does not consider himself a critic, just a regular dude who likes to sit on the couch and watch a movie. He geeks out over the latest Superhero and Sci-Fi flicks like everybody else. He tries to write reviews in plain English so everybody can enjoy them. There isn't much exploration of the human psyche as seen through the eyes of a mosquito in his reviews. And very seldom does he ever go much deeper than whether or not he enjoyed the flick. He believes that movies should entertain you while occasionally making you think. He doesn't like to list his favorite movies here because he doesn't want you, the reader, to be influenced by his tastes. Some people like mushrooms, he doesn't, but he won't make fun of you if you do. If you want to know more, take a look at his MySpace profile. or email him at MitchEmerson@hotmail.com
  • Taryn's Corner  ( 58 items )
I am Taryn. I am a huge film geek, but not just for any films. I prefer the kinds of movies that most people would deem worthless. If it's in bad taste, gory, politically incorrect, offensive or just really bizarre, it is likely that it is on my favorite films list. With a Bachelor's in Sociology from Michigan State University, majoring in how the media effects our perceptions, and a trade certificate from The Motion Picture Institute of Michigan, I have made music, TV and movies my passion. But film is definitely my favorite medium. It is my dream to one day make a few movies of my own. I'm also a big geek for environmental issues, animal welfare and equal rights. So I'll give you movie reviews and the occasional socially conscious shout out. Please share your thoughts, good or bad, at tas75@comcast.net
  • That Guy from Idaho  ( 1 items )
  • Mindless Conversations  ( 3 items )

Art and Jeff are usually very bored at their real jobs. So when they’re not writing columns for MycityBuzz they pass the time by emailing back and forth on everything from Iran’s nuclear program to the quality of sandwiches at Jimmy Johns. Lucky for you, they’re willing to share their mindless banter. Check back every now and then for more Mindless Conversations.

  • Miss Single USA  ( 32 items )

Miss Single USA is written by Shannon Rose, an ex-Detroiter who moved to Chicago in 2000 to explore life in a city with a functioning public transportation system. She's not a therapist, just a twenty-something woman who feels the need to share her knowledge and experiences from the crazy relationship that tend to follow her where ever she goes! Her hobbies include drinking at the German bar around the corner, hockey, feminism, and drummers. Feel free to send her any questions you would like her to address at missroseusa@gmail.com.

  • My Mind to Your Mind  ( 11 items )

Rick retired from the life of a world famous ne’er-do-well several years ago, finding it too taxing. He now spends his time managing the family household, pets and fortune, while pondering the larger issues in life – Fibonacci retracements, what happened to the Democrats and who did put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp. Ask Rick what he thinks about something at mmtym@detroitbuzz.com. It’ll give him something to do today.

  • A Dave In The Life  ( 24 items )
Dave travels extensively around the country for business and has probably been in and out of more hotel rooms and taxi cabs than a Las Vegas call girl. Each day brings a new adventure and new travel story. You may have had similar experiences as some of these stories, but I guarantee you, most of them are experience that you would never believe could happen to one person. Check often for another Dave In The Life.
Dave can be contacted at dglenn@detroitbuzz.com.
  • The Jephro Show  ( 9 items )
  • What About Bob?  ( 23 items )
Bob Waltenspiel is the quintessential “guy’s guy.” He loves beer, cheese, and beef jerky. Once his 9 to 5 is over, expect to see him at a local brew pub, the Post Bar, or just hanging around town. A born and bred Detroiter, he is your friend, social outlet, and he’s Bob.
Bob can be reached at his local pub or at bob@waltenspiel.com
  • Stranger In A Strange Land  ( 11 items )
Steve-O is your everyday Joe Schmoe with the audacity to actually have an opinion. I am Steve-O, you are “Dear Reader”, or whatever else I call you that day, this is our relationship. Like the great Earnest Hemmingway, I don’t really bother to bother. I say what’s on my mind, never hit spell check, seldom do my homework, am often irreverent, believe no subject is off limits, and I do not worship the written medium but instead use it to facilitate my own evil genius. I have been accused of being a conservative, an extremist, a religious freak, an apostate, a troublemaker and an idiot to which I proudly and wholeheartedly embrace with a hearty “YEP” to all charges.
File complaints or just send me a dollar to Donthurtmuch@yahoo.com.
  • Never Mind The... British Guy  ( 6 items )
The British Guy has decided it’s time Americans learn the differences between them and their brethren across the pond. Never Mind The... is a hilarious column that examines how Americans and the British view each other. Fortunately, no matter what discrepancies the Brits and Yanks may have with one another, one thing can be agreed on, at least it’s not France.
The British Guy can be contacted at shaddyho@hotmail.com.
  • Ask Reno  ( 4 items )

At Detroit Buzz, Reno speaks, giving advice and recounting his best stories from years of experience behind the bar. If you’ve got a question for him send it to askreno@detroitbuzz.com.
