<p>Entering it’s ninth year, the Take Action Tour has a little bit different message than most package tours that come to town. Instead of some energy drink or clothing line supporting a bunch of bands while out on tour, the Take Action Tour takes on different focuses related to social issues. Teen suicide prevention has been the main topic the past several years, but the 2011 tour will be put on by Sex Etc., a organization that aims to give teens better information about health and assistance for teens that may not receive this information at school or from their parents.</p>
<p>Through the past several years, some of the biggest names in alternative rock have played the festival, from Coheed &amp; Cambria playing in the tour’s first year, to other bands over the years ranging from We The Kings to Every Time I Die.</p>
<p>The 2011 lineup is headlined by <a href="http://www.silversteinmusic.com">Silverstein</a> and <a href="http://www.myspace.com/bayside">Bayside</a>. Silverstein just released their brand new album, “Rescue” in late April and is the band’s first album on Hopeless Records after a lengthy stint with Victory Records. Meanwhile, Bayside has also switched labels, joining up with Wind-Up Records for the release of their latest album, “Killing Time”. This will be a powerful double shot of the “post-hardcore” (or whatever you want to call it) scene. Also on the bill will be Polar Bear Club, the Swellers and Texas in July.<br />
<span id="more-1240"></span><br />
This year’s Take Action Tour will last through May 28th, but before the end of the tour, the bands will head to the Detroit area as they play the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac on Wednesday, May 25th. It is sure to be a night for good music and to have you and your friends learn a thing or two along the way.<br />
<em><strong><br />
The Take Action Tour will be at the <a href="http://www.thecrofoot.com">Crofoot Ballroom</a> on Wednesday, May 25th. Tickets are $18 and are available at <a href="http://www.ticketweb.com/">www.ticketweb.com</a>. Additional tour dates and info can be found at <a href="http://www.takeactiontour.com/">www.takeactiontour.com</a>.</strong></em></p>

<p>The name could double as a low grade horror flick and given the poster art for the tour, you could probably give more credence to that notion. This year’s <a title="Screa It Like You Mean It" href="http://www.screamitlikeyoumeanit.com/" target="_blank">Scream It Like You Mean It Tour</a> is not a horror flick, but a tour heavy on the scream infused punk and pop-punk that gives fans a more up close and personal views of these bands, versus the hot parking lot stages at Warped Tour.</p>
<p>This year’s tour is headlined by the <a title="Silverstein Music" href="http://www.silversteinmusic.com/" target="_blank">Ontario punk band Silverstein</a>, who just wrapped up a victorious theater run with A Day To Remember. The band currently is promoting a live album. Also included on this year’s tour <a title="Emery - Myspace" href="http://www.myspace.com/emery" target="_blank">is South Carolina’s Emery</a>, who is out promoting their box set, which was released back in April. Other bands on the bill include Dance Gavin Dance and the pyromaniac-happy titled I Set My Friends on Fire.</p>
<p>The tour starts in New Jersey on July 8th and hits Detroit the very next day, pulling into St. Andrew’s on Friday, July 9th. This is the start of a slammin’ tour that lasts through August 8th. Check the dates closest to you- some of the bills include <a title="The Devil Wears Prada - MySpace" href="http://www.myspace.com/tdwp" target="_blank">bands like The Devil Wears Prada</a> and August Burns Red.</p>
<p>But if you are in the mood for a screaming, wailing and kickin’ good time, get down to St. Andrew’s on July 8th and get nuts to this show.</p>
<p><strong><em>The Scream It Like You Mean It tour hits St. Andrew’s Hall on Friday, July 9th. Tickets are $18.50 and are available at <a href="http://www.livenation.com/">www.livenation.com</a>. Additional tour dates and updates are available at <a href="http://www.screamitlikeyoumeanit.com">www.screamitlikeyoumeanit.com</a>.</em></strong></p>
