After a triumphant show at St. Andrew’s Hall last summer, where Metric sold out the Detroit venue, the Toronto-based band will make their way back to the area… well, almost back when the band heads to Windsor for a Canadian tour behind their Fantasies record.

Released last April, Fantasies became the band’s most high profile album to date, reaching #76 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, while singles for “Help I’m Alive” and “Gold Girls Guns” ended up on numerous television shows and movies, exposing the bands to a lot of new ears. Along with making headway in the States, the band also saw the album go double platinum in their native Canada, where it reached the Top 10.

The album is a moody and alluring showcase of lead singer Emily Haines’ silky voice, who moves through the songs on the record with a sophiscation not seen in a lot of alt-rock today, while guitarist (and producer) Jimmy Shaw’s arrangements give the album an energetic spark.

Metric recently played a few dates out on the West Coast, but for much of the next month is playing their homeland of Canada. Many of the theater dates are sold out and the band will play arguably play their biggest Detroit area date yet as they play the WFCU Centre in Windsor on Sunday (April 4th). It will be one of the few chances to see Metric display their craft in front of a much larger crowd than usual. Just make sure to grab the passport and be nice to the border guards if you go see Metric in Windsor this Sunday.

Metric plays the WFCU Centre on April 4th. Tickets are $35 (Canadian) and are available through the arena’s website at www.wfcu-centre.com. Additional dates and band info can be found at www.ilovemetric.com.
