Steel Train Roll Into Royal Oak

Steel Train playing last year in Indianapolis.

For a band in which lead singer Jack Antonoff that thinks “came out 30 years too late,” the guys in Steel Train definitely have a modern feel to their music. The band, which was formed back in the late 90s, has been on the road consistently throughout the past decade and is now in the midst of recording their third full length record, due out sometime later this year.

To whet the appetites of their fans, the band released a brand new single, called “Turnpike Ghost.” But now, the band is firmly entrenched in the studio. Recently, the band starting throwing out song titles, some of which may or may not end up on the album, as well as playing some of the new songs on tour. But there are plenty of gems from the Trampoline record, worth checking out, such as the jangly and upbeat numbers “I Feel Weird” and “Alone On The Sea.”

Now that Steel Train’s headlining tour has wrapped up, they’ve jumped on a larger tour as they open for Canadian alt-folk twin sisters Tegan and Sara. The band has dates lined up with Tegan and Sara through April 21st, before playing The Bamboozle New Jersey on May 2nd. This week, they’ll play the Royal Oak Music Theater on Saturday, March 27th.
So, make sure to check out Steel Train’s new stuff and catch the stuff from their highly heralded album Trampoline.
