The Futureheads Are Ready For Chaos

Futureheads' guitarist Ross Millard live in 2007.

Borrowing a bit from the days of 90s Alternative Nation, the U.K. punk band The Futureheads are planning some chaos our way with their brand new album, The Chaos, which was released back in late April.

Founded in 2000 by guitarist Barry Hyde and bassist David Craig, The Futureheads released their debut in 2004 and have released a string of albums during the past 6 years. After forming their own label for the 2006 album This Is Not The World, the quartet signed with Dovecote Records for The Chaos.

The band keeps things charging on the new album, hearkening the day of 80s English punk on songs like “Struck Dumb” and “This is The Life.” Bassist Craig seems to be the unsung hero of the album, as his riffs give The Chaos a real punch on songs like “Heartbeat Song” and “I Can Do That.”

The Futureheads are making a quick trip here in the States, as they play dates through June 18th before heading to a slew of festivals in Europe. Futurehead fans of Detroit are in luck, as the band is heading to the Magic Stick this Friday (June 11th) for a night of English fused punk/alt rock. So, make sure to check out The Futureheads before they traverse back over the pond for a summer’s worth of festivals.

The Futureheads play at the Magic Stick on Friday, June 11th. Tickets are $15 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. Additional tour dates and band info can be found at www.thefutureheads.co.uk.
